The "why?" question: It is all about the research!

Before you start writing your CV it is important to really understand what it is that you are applying for. Have a closer look at the job description as well as the company itself. What are they really looking for? Which requirements do they have? Which of the criteria can you fulfill and is there any additional value you could possibly add?

Also, think about why you are applying for this job in particular. Although the main reason will probably be that you are looking for a job, think about why you are applying for this job in particular. What caught your eye? Maybe it is the company or the Team which you have an interest in or maybe the tasks seemed appealing.

Once you have all of the above figured out, you are ready to tailor your CV to the position you are applying for. Go through your CV and always ask yourself if this information is relevant to either the job or the company. Once the content is fitted to the position you can additionally try to match your CV visually. Try using the same colors or styles of the company website for example.
